I spent five hours past my daughter's doctor appointment time trying to have her seen for flu-like symptoms recently.   After the excruciatingly long wait, the receptionist announced at 5pm that the office would stay open until 8-10pm to get to the patients who were already waiting.

What a mess!   The pediatric doctors can't keep up with the currently privately insured and medicaid patients who they have already existing on their roster of patients.


As the beginning of another school year had been setting sail, I considered trying out for the color guard team at my high school.   At the time, it sounded like a great idea!   I mean, what kind of fool wouldn't want to escape two whole class periods twirling flags for the rest of the year?   That fool would happen to be I.   And why does that not surprise me???

When I imagined my very first date as a small child, I imagined it being perfect---no parents, no siblings; just me and my date.   Realistically though, in my family, 'perfect first dates' are only heard of in the likes of story books.

I was going to my first school dance!   I was so exited to purchase a dress, see all of my friends, and hopefully dance with a guy.
