In the small hours of the morning, the world grows still. Even big city hospitals seem to turn their volume down, but are never truly silent. The sounds of people at rest or in distress, seem to echo along the corridors. The trucks from the interstate can be heard in the distance.

Here is the USS Constitution, a not-to-miss stop, on the Boston Freedom Trail (partially blocked by my large cranium!). She was launched in 1797 and is still in commissioned status today. Her most notable combat was against the British in the War of 1812, where she captured several merchant vessels and defeated five warships! The British were very upset and claimed that fighting her was unfair due to her speed and exceptionally thick hull. This is a testament to American design, engineering, and natural resources. (I believe that her wood came from live oaks in the South.)
I wonder how many of our country's current leadership have toured this great ship...and have the capacity to understand why George Washington himself named her as he did?

Dear Angie,
I wrote this a while back. I was hoping to place it in your I-mag in the near future. Please forward it to your friend. I believe she will appreciate it.
Sincerely,
SW

I tend to obsess on things from time to time. Sometimes the obsessing takes a turn to cooking. I will make tons of cookies with nuts, chocolate chips, etc.--or without. It seems as if I can't make enough or make them fast enough to suit me. That's obsessing, isn't it? The post office officials, clerks in stores, et. al receive pretty tins chock full of treats. Hopefully, I won't start stopping strangers on the street to force them to try my culinary treats. That's my hope, anyway.

There are so many stories out there. Some we can tell, some are better not told. Here is one story that should probably not be told--but I am going to tell it anyway. It bothers me to this day.
