I absolutely HATE going through the change.
No, not the change of life, but the changing of the clock.
In my opinion, menopause can’t be avoided, but this whole 'Daylight Savings' thing can.

I am a creature of habit, and I need my routine.   Now, Life has managed to throw me a few unexpected curve balls--like having three kids when I planned for only two, and meeting an internet date that held me captive for the night and now resides in a mental institution---you know, stuff like that.

But now, I wake up at the wrong time, and the light seems wrong for what the clock says it should be--and my life is chaos.
As a creature of habit, I cannot be off schedule---not even by an hour.   I’m not exactly anal about my schedule (not when there’s so many other things about which I’m anal), but it really affects me negatively.
I feel sleepy and hungry at the wrong times, and it makes me cranky.   My kids just look at me as I grumble in a sleepy voice about how dark and cold it’s getting.  My six year-old daughter threatened to make me go to bed if I didn’t stop being so grumpy.   I’m tempted to let her.

Now, I understand there are states that do not follow Daylight Savings Time. So does this mean we have a choice?   I mean, if I just refuse to turn back my clock, can I start a whole snowball effect and get others to refuse, or is there some sort of Daylight Savings Police that will break down my door and turn the clocks back themselves?   Maybe snap the hands on my bedside clock as a message that I better not mess with their system of Father Time?

All I know is, for a few days after the change goes into effect, I’m lost.   And cranky.   In the morning, I shower while it’s still dark out, and I’m coming home as the sun is setting….and I get off at five in the afternoon.   We get home and I tell the kids to play outside until it’s dark.   By the time they drop their backpacks and run outside, they turn around and come back in.
It’s dark already.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that has a problem with the whole time change thing.   Imagine a group of people planning the biggest heist of their criminal history.   The meticulous planning and synchronization of a well developed plan coming together.   Now imagine only half of them showing up because the other half forgot to set back their clocks.   See how inconvenient that would be?

Okay, okay, I’m just rambling now, but you get the point.   One day, I really am going to separate from the rest of the herd and just not do it.

But not now. It’s nearly six o’clock and dark outside.
I’m going to bed……..

I Hate Daylight Savings Time
moonlighter - 02-01-2010 09:12

The title says it all; I do hate daylight savings time. I blame DST for the death of the Drive-in-movie, for one thing. I know, I'm old, 57; but when I was a kid, we didn't have it and about 9:00 in the summertime, the whole neighborhood would play kick-the-can. I know, most kids don't have a clue, but it was fun. And, I remember sitting outside in the dark with the girl down the block and laying on our backs talking and watching the stars. People just don't communicate that way anymore. Staying light till 10:00 just isn't natural somehow. I might be old, but when you say, "The Times They Are A Changing", I think of Bob Dylan. When I think of Bob Dylan, I think of the 60's. When I think of the 60's, it makes me wonder where we went wrong.
